Dingo Creek
An innovative learning object to immerse middle year students in natural disaster education in an Australian context.
A disaster has hit the coastal community of Dingo Creek (a fictitious Australian town). But the consequences didn't need to be so devastating! You have a mission, should you choose to accept it, to travel back in time to change the future.
Dingo Creek is designed to engage middle year students in the process of:
- identifying risks from natural disasters to their immediate community, and
- interrogating the emergency risk management process to mitigate the impacts of natural disaster on the Australian environment.
Concisely mapped to state and territory curriculum frameworks, Dingo Creek is supported by both an extensive Teaching Manual and 8 off-line lesson plans. The off-line activities will provide opportunity for students to raise awareness of local risks of natural disaster, emergency risk management process and aims to enhance community resilience to the effects of natural disaster.
Do you accept the mission?
